The KGH Border Services International Advisory Board

The KGH Border Services International Advisory Board is a think tank for dialogue about international Customs and Trade related matters, acting as an independent advisor to the Company on strategic issues.

Participants who are invited to the forum are people, both from Sweden and other countries, with extensive management and academic experience, from Government and business.

The Executive Members of the KGH Border Services International Advisory Board in 2013, in family name alphabetic order, are:

Wieslaw “Wes” Czyzowicz

Professor Wieslaw “Wes” Czyzowicz is former Deputy Minister of Finance, Head of the Polish Customs Service and Chief of Finance Intelligence Unit (GIFI). He is also Professor, Ph.D. graduated from Warsaw University 1972, MA Political Science), Moscow State University (1977r Doctor of Humanities), Russian Academy of Management in Moscow (1990r, Habilitation in Humanities), University of Geneva - Higher Institute International Relations - GATT, Geneva (1992 - post-graduate studies in the field of customs and international trade), U.S. course for Customs brokers (1996, Los Angeles). Professor Czyzowicz is a legendary Customs leader and Academic profile in the field of Customs.

Göran Ekström

Mr. Göran Ekström is former Deputy Minister of Interior, Director General and Deputy Director General of Customs, Director General of the Swedish Agency for Government Employers (SAGE) and Governor. Mr. Ekström is a very experienced civil servant that has held senior key positions within the Ministry of Finance and other Government ministries.  He is a Bachelor of Economics.

Kjell Jansson

Mr. Kjell Jansson is former Deputy Minister of Environment, Director General of Customs, Director General of the Statistics Sweden Agency, Director General for the Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and at present he is the Managing Director of Sweden Energy. Mr. Jansson is a very experienced civil servant that has held senior key positions within the Ministry of Finance and other Government ministries. He is a Bachelor of Economics.

Michael H. Lane

Mr. Michael H. Lane is former Deputy Commissioner of the U.S. Customs Service. He has also held the positions of Deputy Assistant Secretary, Operations, at the Department of the U.S. Treasury.  In addition he has served as Assistant Commissioner Commercial Operations, U.S. Customs Service and Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Inspections & control, U.S. Customs Service. After leaving Government he served as Senior Vice President, International Customs Modernization Projects at Sandler, Travis Trade Advisory Service. Mr. Lane has received the Meritorious and Distinguished Presidential Rank Awards, the highest recognition which can be given to a civil servant; Honorary Doctorate—National Louis University; Joint Industry Group “Excellence in Government Award. He is the author of the famous book, “Customs Modernization and the International Trade Superhighway”.

Christina Rahlén

Ms. Christina Rahlén is former Director at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Director at the Swedish National Board of Trade. At the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Rahlén  was Senior Adviser for Trade and Development Policy, Trade Facilitation, European Union and United Nations. She was also responsible for the Swedish Membership of the World Customs Organization (WCO). In her position Ms. Rahlén was responsible for trade facilitation negotiations at the World Trade Organization (WTO). Mr. Rahlén has also, for numerous years, been the Head of the Swedish Trade Procedures Council (SWEPRO) and Swedish Head of Delegation to UN/ECE,UNCTAD and OECD.
